Well…here we are approaching the end of 2013. I feel like I just typed up our Thankful letter for last year. As I think about that, I am reminded of how thankful I am that we have been blessed to have another year to serve and to live and experience so many things. I know you probably think that I am talking about success and health, but actually I am talking about much more than that. We should be thankful for ALL things. Think about the things that you have experienced over the past year…Has it all been fun and happy, or have you experienced some trials? Have you been healthy, or experienced pain and/or illness? Have you experienced a loss? Really, be thankful for EVERYTHING? The answer is…yes.
…laying on the floor on Thanksgiving Day, because that was the only place that was tolerable…
Even in Trials?
Sometimes it’s hard to be thankful when things don’t go our way, but we should always do our best. You may be thinking, You have no idea what I’ve been through… you’re probably correct, but here’s my story…laying on the floor on Thanksgiving Day, because that was the only place that was tolerable, wondering what in the world I did to find myself in so much pain. Still thankful, you ask? Actually, yes…I am thankful that I could still spend time with my family and friends, in spite of being on the floor in pain. I am thankful that I have a family that loves me and wants to help. I’m thankful that I am able to experience the sensation of pain, instead of not being able to experience sensation at all. I am thankful that God granted me the ability to endure the pain and not lose my mind (although, I did get a laugh at myself when the rap song lyrics…y’all gonna make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here popped into my head). It made me laugh because I don’t like that song, but it popped into my head as I hobbled around the house. I am thankful that I could laugh through the pain. I’m thankful for my husband’s shoulder to cry on and sweet hugs from my children when I don’t think I can take it any more. I am thankful to have a daughter that knows how to tie Mommy’s shoes. I am thankful that I have a have more than just a chiropractor for a boss, I have a friend who cares about me. I know this because Doc took the time away from his family, on his time off, to meet me at the office and work on me so that I could get some relief.
Experiences Shape Our Lives
I will admit that I don’t always view things this way, but lately I have been trying a little bit harder. Granted my story is probably nothing in comparison to things that others have gone through, but I wanted to share my way of finding something to be thankful for in a trying time for me. Just so you know, I was not miraculously healed. I am still following a treatment plan, just like we recommend for our patients. Guess what else I learned to be thankful for during this time… our patients and the ability to understand what they sometimes experience so that I will have a little more compassion, sympathy, and patience.
Thankful for You
As I wrap up this blog post, I want to say THANK YOU for being a part of our lives this year! On behalf of Dr. Tassin, Jennie, Victoria, Johanna and Michele, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to what 2014 has in store for us. If we can ever be of service, please don’t hesitate to call.
In Health,
Michelle

This is what Christmas is about. Society takes for granted what the season is really about. We all need to take a moment to think. Thanks Michelle for writing this incredible reminder!

Thank you so much! I think it's good to take the time and reflect on the things we have to be thankful for so that we don't get too wrapped up in ourselves. There is a blessing in everything, we just need to take the time to look for it...
